Farmersville Holds Tax Rate Steady, But Homeowners Could Still Pay More
Farmersville will head into the new fiscal year without an increase to its city property tax rate.
City Council approved a rate of 72.5 cents per $100 of taxable value for 2026-27, leaving the rate unchanged from the previous year. "The tax rate is the exact same as it was last year, 72 and a half cents," city staff told council before the vote.
The vote came near the end of Farmersville’s annual budget process. Council also approved the city’s certified property tax roll, which staff described as one of the remaining steps before the new fiscal year begins.
An unchanged rate, however, does not guarantee an unchanged bill for every property owner. City property taxes are calculated using a property’s taxable value, so the amount owed can still rise if that value increases.
At Farmersville’s 72.5-cent rate, $250,000 in taxable value would generate about $1,812.50 in city property taxes. At $300,000 in taxable value, the city portion would be about $2,175. Those figures are based on taxable value and do not account for any applicable exemptions or adjustments.
The city tax is also only one portion of a property owner’s overall tax bill. Depending on the property’s taxing jurisdictions, separate taxes may also be levied by Farmersville ISD, Collin County and Collin College. Each of those entities adopts its own tax rate independently from the City of Farmersville.
That means a homeowner’s total property tax bill can still change even when Farmersville leaves its own rate untouched. Changes in taxable value, exemptions or rates adopted by other taxing entities can all affect the final amount due.
City Council approved the 72.5-cent rate by roll-call vote. The adopted tax information will be forwarded to Collin County as Farmersville prepares for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2026.
