Dispatch Contract Approved For Police And Fire

Farmersville City Council approved an amended interlocal agreement with Collin County for police and fire dispatch services beginning Oct. 1, locking in the city’s next year of emergency communications coverage.

Staff said the annual fire dispatch fee is $137,559, plus radio charges, while police dispatch is set at $126,156, plus radio and warrant-related fees. Officials also noted that the agreement appears to require payment of the full amount even if the city ends the contract early.

During discussion, council members said the county arrangement remains the best option for now, especially compared with an alternative that was described as more than double the cost. Officials pointed to the ongoing ESD funding process as another reason to keep the county agreement in place for the coming year.

The county agreement was presented as Amendment Number 5 to the interlocal deal. City leaders said it is the updated version needed for the upcoming fiscal year and includes the charges that will apply to both departments.
