CEDC Board Meeting

Board Approves Agreement, Reviews Willock Master Plan

Board members approved executive session items, made board leadership appointments, approved an economic development agreement for a downtown property, and reviewed a long-range master plan for the Willock site. The discussion included downtown redevelopment, public space, and possible future development at the site.

Executive Session Actions Move Forward

After returning from executive session, officials approved the CDC president’s performance metrics. They also approved an amendment involving CJS Family Properties LLC and Branch Office Park. The vote on that second item was 5-0 with Clint abstaining.

CEDC Leadership Seats Filled

Officials appointed leadership for the CEDC board. Clint was reappointed board chair, Andrew was approved as vice chair, Cindy was approved as secretary, and Cody Hunter was approved as treasurer.

Willock Plan Includes Hotel, Restaurants, And Festival Space

Staff and consultants presented the Willock master plan as a long-term vision for roughly 32 acres. The concept includes retail, restaurants, a beer garden, a food hall, office space, a boutique hotel, event space, and creekside public areas. No final vote was taken during this discussion, and staff said board feedback would go to City Council the following week.

Creek Work And Access Questions Still Loom

Consultants said work along Doe Branch Creek would require hydrology analysis and other engineering. They also described possible pedestrian links, including a future underpass beneath the railroad and a possible road connection toward Preston Road. Those ideas were presented as options rather than approved construction plans, and several pieces still need more study.
