Church Plans Move Forward, Apartment Zoning Gets Delayed, Commission Wraps Fast

Plano’s Planning and Zoning Commission kept it short on May 18, 2026, but still moved several property cases that could affect nearby traffic, access, and future development. The meeting focused on two church-related site items and one multifamily zoning case that is now pushed to next month.

Hinckley Addition Replat Approved

Commissioners approved a replat for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints property on 4.4 acres west of Los Rios Boulevard, north of Merriman Drive. Staff said the replat adds a portion of abandoned right of way into the church lot. Because this was an administrative item, it had to be approved if it met city rules. The vote was initially shown as 6 to 1, then corrected to 7 to 0 after a commissioner said the voting machine malfunctioned.
