Lavon Meeting Recap: Data Center Debate Grows, Trash Rates Adjusted, Fire Grant Moves Forward

Lavon’s June 16, 2026 City Council meeting centered on growing concerns over possible data center development, while also covering utility rates, fire funding, infrastructure work, and new procedures for public comments. This recap is based on the city’s approved meeting minutes.

Trash Collection Rates Adjusted

Lavon also amended its contract with Community Waste Disposal to allow a market adjustment to solid waste rates. During the discussion, officials noted that resident garbage collection rates had not been increased since 2017. The change passed unanimously.
