Planning and Zoning

Church Case Delayed, Car Rental Cleared, Housing And Commercial Projects Roll Ahead

McKinney’s Planning and Zoning Commission tackled a packed June 23, 2026 meeting that touched everything from new housing and highway commercial growth to an industrial expansion. For residents, the decisions point to where homes, businesses and job sites could grow next, with several items now headed to City Council for final say.

Parks Church Item Pushed To July

The commission tabled a request tied to design exceptions for The Parks Church at South Tennessee Street and East Davis Street. Staff said the applicant did not have all exhibits ready, so the public hearing was continued to July 14. That means neighbors and commissioners will have to wait a few more weeks before seeing the full case.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Wins Initial Approval

Commissioners unanimously approved a specific use permit for an Enterprise rent-a-car site on James Pitts Drive, about 650 feet south of Justice Road. Staff said the location would not have direct frontage on U.S. 75 and would not interfere with the main entrances for nearby uses, including a middle school, hotel and religious assembly. The plan includes one access point and now moves to City Council on July 21.
