Farmersville Council Swears In New Members, Delays Park Fish Stocking, And Pushes Trail Work Forward

At the Farmersville City Council regular meeting on May 18, 2026, leaders handled new terms, public complaints, and several ongoing city projects that touch streets, parks, roads, and public safety. The session affected day-to-day residents directly, from the condition of neighborhood roads and trees to how the city tracks fire hydrants and manages major construction.

Strickland And Mundy Take The Oath
Coleman Strickland and Christy Mundy were officially sworn in to their council seats after the city canceled the May 2 unopposed election. Strickland will serve in Place 1, and Mundy will serve in Place 3, where she is beginning her first full three-year term after filling an unexpired appointment before. The swearing-in locks in the council lineup residents will see making decisions over the next term.

Council Picks Henry As Mayor Pro Tem
The council appointed Mike Henry as mayor pro tem and named Russ Chandler as deputy mayor pro tem. Those posts matter when the mayor is away, since they help keep meetings and city business moving without delay. The appointments were approved without opposition.
