Lavon Tightens Parking Rules, Moves Utility Deal Forward, And Hears LakePointe Safety Concerns
Lavon City Council meeting notes from April 21 have been released, showing council covered neighborhood traffic concerns, parking rules, utility work, and economic development. The meeting included two approved items and a LakePointe safety request.
LakePointe Neighbors Push For Safer Streets
Richard Somers and Wendy Sheriff raised concerns about speeding in the LakePointe neighborhood. They asked the city to consider four-way stops at Brookstone Drive and LakePointe Boulevard, and Brookstone Drive and Cyprus Grove Drive. They also asked for more streetlight coverage and brighter lighting throughout the neighborhood.
Council Cracks Down On Front-Yard Parking
Council approved Ordinance No. 2026-04-04, changing Lavon’s parking rules. The update restricts parking on an unimproved surface in front of a building line. In simple terms, where vehicles are parked on a property could matter more under the city code, especially in front-yard areas that are not improved surfaces.
