Rockwall Weighs A Tight Budget And Public Safety Costs

Rockwall City Council spent its August 27 budget work session discussing a tight 2027 spending plan, public safety costs, and whether to advertise a higher tax rate. Members also discussed future police and fire staffing, street upkeep, water and sewer costs, and park projects that may move forward through the budget process.

She said there was no room for new positions or market pay adjustments, and that the plan relied on conservative revenue estimates. She also said there were very little new equipment purchases and that some department budgets had to be reduced midyear.
