Plano Approves Budget, Tax Rate, And Legislative Agenda

Plano City Council used its Sept. 14 meeting to act on the city’s operating budget, community investment program, tax rate, tax revenue ratification, and legislative agenda.

Budget Wins Final Approval

Council voted 8 to 0 to adopt Plano’s $841.6 million operating budget for the fiscal year that starts Oct. 1, 2026. During public comment, one resident questioned where funding tied to the Willow Bend area was shown, and staff said $10 million came from the economic development incentive fund and $5 million came from hotel-motel tax funds.

Capital Plan Passes After Douglas Concerns

Council also voted 8 to 0 to adopt the $289.8 million Community Investment Program. Two speakers argued the Douglas neighborhood still lacks enough investment and said the plan mainly continues older projects rather than adding new ones.
