Lavon Weighs Data Center Pause, New Tax District
Major development proposals, election measures and early budget decisions will come before the Lavon City Council during a special meeting on August 6. The agenda includes a possible pause on data center development, several commercial projects, economic incentives and a proposed tax district near the city’s major highway corridors.
Three Council Seats Head To November Ballot
Lavon could formally call its general election for November 3, 2026, placing City Council Places 1, 3 and 5 before voters. Each position carries a two-year term, and Collin County would oversee the election under the proposed ordinance.
$1.5 Million Business Incentive Faces Final Reading
A proposed incentive for a retail store and fueling station at 840 S. SH 78 returns for a second reading. The Lavon Economic Development Corporation agreement would provide up to $1.5 million from future sales tax revenue over 10 years for Lot 7 of the Heritage Square project.
Six Elevon Commercial Lots Up For Approval
The Elevon Southwest Commercial Addition could move closer to development through approval of its preliminary plat. The plan divides 11.625 acres into six commercial lots southwest of N. SH 78 and Elevon Parkway, though no specific businesses are identified in the agenda.
Highway Property Could Be Split Into Two Lots
A replat near SH 78 and SH 205 would divide Lot 2 of the Lavon 7-Eleven Addition into two separate properties near 963 S. SH 78. Part of the land is tied to a proposed 7 Brew Coffee development appearing separately on the agenda.
Thirty-Acre Industrial Park Plat Faces Council Vote
The final plat for the Flex Industrial Park Addition would create two commercial lots across 30.039 acres north of 17253 FM 2755. The property sits within Lavon’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, with any approval remaining subject to final review by the city engineer.
