The Historic May Building Just Came With Another Tax Bill

The May Building has stood in downtown Farmersville since around 1890, but its latest surprise is much more recent. Board members said they believed last year would be the final year taxes had to be paid on the property. New statements showed another payment was due.

Members pulled the original agreement during the discussion and said the tax obligation appears to continue this year going into next year. The problem is that expense was never included in the budget. The board now expects to consider a budget amendment at a future meeting before taking it to City Council.
