This Week's Coverage

Regular City Council Meeting · August 17, 2026

Farmersville Approves Street Work and Ambulance Agreement

Farmersville City Council on Aug. 17 approved a local street reconstruction contract, approved a new ambulance services agreement, and discussed a proposed interlocal agreement with the county emergency services district. The council also discussed a balanced proposed budget and set a public hearing on the proposed tax rate.

Street Reconstruction Contract Gets Green Light

Council approved awarding the Farmersville Local Streets Reconstruction Project to JR West Texas Concrete LLC for $758,863.39. The work covers Orange Street, Rike Street, and a portion of Main Street. A city engineering representative said work would likely start after contracts and insurance are completed, with a best-case scenario of starting in the fall and continuing into early next year.

Brick Repairs On Main Were Left Out For Now

A city engineering representative said an alternate bid for spot repairs in the downtown brick area was not included. After discussions with city staff and the TIRZ board, he said spot repair was not considered the best use of funds and could create additional problems. He said the recommendation was to look at repairing whole sections instead.
