City Council Acts On Budget, Tax Rate, Development Items, And Other Business

City Council considered the city budget, tax rate, development cases, public improvement district items, water meter spending, an interlocal agreement, a Glendening Parkway item, and board appointments.

Wilson Creek Park Turf Options Discussed

Council reviewed design changes for Wilson Creek Park after staff said a groundwater permit was issued for 9.1 million gallons annually, compared with an original application for 48 million annual gallons and a staff-modified request of 32 million annual gallons. Staff presented two synthetic turf options at rough order of magnitude costs of about $4 million or $8 million. During discussion, members and staff expressed support for synthetic turf on both game field areas, but no formal vote on that design change appears in the transcript.

Splash Pad To Be Added Back To A Concept Plan

During park discussion, council members discussed adding a splash pad back to a concept plan. One member said a splash pad had been identified as a missing feature at Old Celina Park in earlier feedback. Staff said it would bring back a concept with the splash pad and work through options during design. No formal construction decision was made at this meeting.
